About NSO - NSO
"Nso Nso" is a vibrant Igbo setting of the Sanctus, composed by Celestine Nnabuike and arranged by Fabian Anyanwu. It carries the awe and majesty required for the Eucharistic prayer, translating the traditional "Holy, Holy, Holy" into a rhythmic and uplifting choral piece.
In Nigerian Catholic parishes, the Sanctus is a moment of profound reverence that often transitions into joyful acclamation. This arrangement captures that shift perfectly. The piece opens with a grounded, solemn declaration of God's holiness—introduced by the bass line before the rest of the choir joins—and builds toward a bright, soaring "Hosanna n'elu kach'elu."
The repetition of "Ọ dị ngozi" (Blessed is He) in the second half gives the choir a chance to emphasize the arrival of Christ in the Eucharist. Singing this setting brings a sense of communal triumph to the Mass, uniting the voices in the loft with the congregation in a shared moment of heavenly praise.
