UKWE NGORI N'OBE ONYENWEANYI (NOS AUTEM)

"Ukwe Ngọrị N'obe Onyenweanyị" is a solemn and majestic Igbo setting of the ancient *Nos Autem* Introit. Often heard echoing from the choir loft during Holy Week—especially as the entrance antiphon for the Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday—or on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, it calls the congregation to fix their eyes on the cross. The opening lines boldly declare the core of the Christian faith: that our glory is found in the cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Chris N. Ogu arranges the piece with a reverent yet triumphant feel, moving from a unison introduction into a rich, full-choir proclamation. The lyrics unpack the mystery of the cross, naming Christ as our salvation ("nzọpụta"), our life ("ndụ"), and our resurrection ("mbilite n'ọnwụ").

As the voices interweave towards the end, the choir sings of the victory won for us. The overlapping parts on "k'anyị siri nweta nzọpụta" build a sense of shared gratitude, reminding everyone at Mass that it is through Him alone we find our salvation and ultimate triumph.
