Ndi Nso Nke Chukwu (Ukwe Laa Mma)

"Ndi Nso Nke Chukwu," subtitled "Ukwe Laa Mma" (Song of Farewell), is a deeply moving Igbo setting of the traditional Catholic funeral prayers, the Subvenite and Suscipiat. Composed by Fr. C. Ezenduka, it is sung during the Final Commendation as the church bids farewell to a departed soul. The opening lines call upon the saints and angels of God to come to the aid of the deceased and meet them as they journey into eternity.

In the choir loft, this piece requires a gentle, solemn delivery that respects the weight of the moment. The melody carries the congregation's final prayers, asking Christ who called the departed to receive them, and for the angels to guide them into the bosom of Abraham. It concludes with the familiar plea for eternal rest ("Nye ya ezumike ebighebi Onye nwe anyi"), offering comfort to grieving families and reminding the faithful of the hope we share in the resurrection.
