NARANU AJA ANYI

"Naranụ Aja Anyị" is a reverent Igbo Offertory hymn that calls on God to accept the gifts of His people. Sung as the congregation processes to the altar with bread, wine, and the fruits of their labor, the song sets a deeply prayerful mood for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The title itself is a direct plea: "Receive our sacrifice."

The lyrics draw beautiful, ancient parallels to the sacrifices of the Old Testament. The choir asks God to accept their offering just as He accepted the gifts of His servant Abel and the high priest Melchizedek. In the chorus, the singers invoke the Holy Spirit, praying that the bread and wine will be transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ.
