Na Zo In Yi Maka Godiya

When we prepare for the Offertory procession, we look for music that captures the genuine gratitude of the congregation. Solomon Odo’s "Na Zo In Yi Maka Godiya" does exactly that. Sung in Hausa, the title carries a simple but profound message: "My God, I have come to give you thanks." The verses walk through the everyday miracles we often take for granted—waking up safely in the morning, traveling and returning without harm, and receiving God's provision and clothing.

This piece is structured beautifully for a choir to lead the people in thanksgiving. The refrain is an upbeat, rhythmic anchor that the whole church can easily feel, while the verses allow different sections of the choir to shine. The second verse, led by the tenors and basses, speaks of journeys made and success granted by God's grace, making it especially fitting for harvest thanksgivings or special family thanksgiving Masses.
