Me Zan Ba Ka by Jude Nnam — Lyrics
About Me Zan Ba Ka
"Me Zan Ba Ka" is a well-known Hausa offertory and thanksgiving song composed by Jude Nnam. Originally written for the Abuja Archdiocesan Singing Competition in 2008, the piece captures the realization that human gifts can never fully match God's majesty.
The lyrics present a moving dialogue of surrender. The verses ask what we could possibly offer the Lord—whether money (kudi), a house (gida), a car (mota), or cattle (shanu)—acknowledging that God could easily refuse them all ("za ka iya ki"). This brings the singer to a place of humility, asking God to reveal what He truly desires ("Allah, fada mani").
Choirs often sing this during the Offertory or as a thanksgiving piece. The call-and-response structure between the voices builds a sense of communal reflection, making it a fitting moment in the Mass where the congregation recognizes that true worship goes beyond material offerings.
