MARIA NNEOMA

"Maria Nneoma" is a tender and joyful Igbo hymn dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Composed by Ekwem Lilian, the song honors Mary as the beautiful mother of Jesus and the Queen of Heaven. Choirs often bring this piece to life during May and October devotions, Marian feast days, or as a vibrant meditation after Communion. The lyrics ask for her intercession, especially for those in times of trouble ("yọwara anyị arịrịọ ndị nọ na nsogbu").

The arrangement shines in its third verse, where the choir builds a layered ostinato—starting with the basses and gradually adding the tenors, altos, and sopranos.
