About LAUDATE DOMINUM
"Laudate Dominum" is one of the most recognizable and deeply loved Taizé chants sung in our parishes. With its gentle, rolling harmony and repetitive structure, the song naturally draws the congregation into a space of quiet reverence and meditation. The Latin refrain, calling all peoples and nations to praise the Lord, is easy for everyone to pick up, making it a unifying piece for the whole church to sing together.
In this arrangement, the familiar Latin chorus is paired with English verses that expand on the theme of thanksgiving. The choir leads the verses, singing of God's enduring love, mercy, and faithfulness from age to age, while the congregation can seamlessly join in the recurring "alleluia" responses.
Because of its meditative pace and focus on adoration, choirs often bring this piece out during Benediction, Communion, or as a reflective Entrance hymn. It is a beautiful way to settle the minds of the faithful, turning their attention entirely toward praising God with joyful songs and gladness.
