Kyrie

When we open the Mass, we come before God acknowledging our need for His mercy. This "Kyrie" by Peter Nwite gives us a gentle, reverent setting for that exact moment. Written entirely in solfa notation, the piece moves with a steady, solemn grace that helps the congregation center their hearts for worship.

The structure follows the traditional threefold plea: Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, and a final return to Kyrie eleison. As the voices weave together through the four-part harmony, the music carries a deep sense of humility and quiet devotion. It is an excellent choice for the Penitential Rite, allowing the choir to lead the faithful in a sincere prayer for forgiveness before we approach the Liturgy of the Word.
