About Kyrie
This setting of the Kyrie, sung in Greek, offers a rich texture for an expanded choir of SATB,SAATTB. The composer Velthur Tognoni crafts a sound world that draws the listener into the solemnity of the text. The interplay between the different voice parts creates a moving and prayerful atmosphere, perfectly suited to this integral part of the Mass. The work is a fine example of sacred choral music, demonstrating a deep understanding of vocal colour and harmonic progression. Its construction allows for both powerful declamation and delicate nuance, making it a rewarding challenge for choirs seeking to explore profound liturgical texts.
