KAMSIYOCHUKWU by Jude Nnam — Lyrics
About KAMSIYOCHUKWU
"Kamsiyochukwu" is a vibrant Igbo song of thanksgiving and testimony, composed by Jude Nnam. The title points to a heart overflowing with gratitude for answered prayers. From the very first line of the refrain—"Omewo ya! Chineke m'emewo ya" (He has done it! My God has done it)—the piece establishes a mood of absolute joy. The choir sings of a God who listens and grants the desires of the heart, repeating the central testimony: "Ihem yoro Ya k'omeere mo" (What I asked of Him, He has done for me).
In the choir loft, this piece is a favorite for the Offertory procession or during special thanksgiving celebrations. The verses take the congregation on a journey of reflection, looking back at past struggles and tears ("Anyammiri ugborugboro") before returning to the triumphant realization of God's goodness. When the sopranos lead the call to kneel and pray ("M'egbue n'ikpere n'ala"), it invites the whole church to join in a dance of gratitude, bringing their gifts and praises to the altar.
