HAIFUWAN YESU by Edwin Gambo — Lyrics
About HAIFUWAN YESU
"Haifuwan Yesu" is a vibrant Hausa Christmas anthem that captures the sheer joy of the Nativity. From the very first notes, the choir echoes the song of the angels, proclaiming "Daukaka ga Allah a cikin Sama" (Glory to God in the highest). The piece builds a festive, rhythmic atmosphere, inviting everyone to clap their hands ("tafa hannu") and raise their voices in praise for the birth of the Savior.
In a Nigerian parish, this is exactly the kind of piece a choir would bring out during the Christmas season, perhaps as a special thanksgiving anthem or during a carol service. The music shifts beautifully from the grand angelic announcement to a deep, personal worship of God ("Ya Ubangiji"). It reminds the congregation of the greatest gift given to the world—the Prince of Peace ("Sarkin salama")—and leaves no doubt that God alone is worthy of all our praise.
