Gaudete by Tim Risher — Lyrics
Gaudete, gaudete! Christus est natus
Ex Maria virgine, gaudete!
Tempus adest gratiæ
Hoc quod optabamus,
Carmina lætitiæ
Devote reddamus.
Gaudete, gaudete! Christus est natus
Ex Maria virgine, gaudete!
Deus homo factus est
Natura mirante,
Mundus renovatus est
A Christo regnante.
Gaudete, gaudete! Christus est natus

About Gaudete
Tim Risher's Gaudete is a vibrant SATB anthem that joyfully celebrates the Nativity. Set in Latin, the text expresses pure exultation, proclaiming "Rejoice, rejoice! Christ is born of the Virgin Mary." The lyrics describe the longed-for time of grace, the wonder of God becoming human, and the renewal of the world under Christ's reign. The music is designed to lift the spirits, echoing the joyful sentiment of the words with a bright and celebratory character suitable for the Christmas season. This piece invites the choir to offer their most devoted songs of praise to the King of our salvation.
