About Gaudeamus omnes

Jens Klimek’s Gaudeamus omnes opens with a joyous, full sound, the voices moving in homophony and imitation. The text, sung in Latin, is a jubilant acclamation, ‘Let us all rejoice in the Lord, celebrating this feast day.’ The composer then develops this opening motto, varying its presentation across sections which may be sung in alternation or combination. The pieces draw on different liturgical texts, each celebrating a feast day – the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, All Saints, St. Stephen, or St. Thomas the Martyr. The musical material is rich and varied, making this a substantial work for choirs of SSAA and SATB, suitable for significant occasions.
