FROM SALEM PLAINS

“From Salem Plains” is a bright, processional hymn that captures the energy and triumph of Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. The verses paint a picture of reviving strains echoing from Salem’s plains and Zion’s hill, inviting the congregation to join the youthful chorus in their song. It is a piece that naturally fits the start of Holy Week, setting a joyful and expectant tone as the choir leads the people in worship.

During Palm Sunday Mass, this song works beautifully as an entrance or processional hymn. The repeated, rhythmic “Hosanna in the highest” in the chorus gives the choir a chance to build a strong, unified sound that carries through the church. The lyrics remind everyone present that the Messiah’s name inspires joy for all, drawing the whole congregation into the shared celebration of the feast.
