EYIN L'OGO YE by Cornelius Ogor — Lyrics
About EYIN L'OGO YE
"Eyin L'ogo Ye" (To You Belongs the Glory) is a vibrant Yoruba anthem of thanksgiving and praise. The song opens with a profound reflection on God's unmatched love, marveling at a Savior who left His throne of glory to come down and justify us. In response to this grace, the choir declares that He alone is worthy of our lifelong service and devotion.
Often sung during the Offertory or as a general hymn of thanksgiving, this piece by Cornelius Ogar builds a majestic atmosphere in the church. The lyrics weave through powerful traditional titles for God, calling on the "Arugbo ojo" (Ancient of Days), "Eledumare" (Creator), and the "Ibere ati opin" (Beginning and End). As the congregation brings their gifts to the altar, the choir's rhythmic call-and-response expresses a deep, overflowing gratitude that simply cannot be held back ("Mee le sai dupe").
The arrangement culminates in a beautiful Trinitarian doxology, praising the "Baba, Omo, Emi mi" (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). This makes it an especially fitting choice for Trinity Sunday, or any festive Mass where the people gather to offer their highest praise to the Lord.
