Et iterum venturus est by Gioseffo Guami — Lyrics

Credo in unum Deum.

About Et iterum venturus est

Gioseffo Guami's setting of the Credo text from the Mass opens with a grand musical statement, befitting the affirmation of faith it represents. The composer exploits the rich sonorities of a double choir (SATB.SATB) to create a powerful and expansive texture, particularly effective in reinforcing the theological weight of the Nicene Creed. The interplay between the two choirs allows for moments of antiphonal dialogue and for the gradual building of intense climaxes, as the music moves through the foundational doctrines of Christian belief, from the creation of the world to the Incarnation and the eventual return of Christ to judge the living and the dead.
