Ecce sacerdos magnus by Vinzenz Goller — Lyrics
Ecce sacerdos magnus, qui in diebus suis placuit Deo.
Ideo jurejurando fecit illum Dominus crescere in plebem suam.
Benedictionem omnium gentium dedit illi
et testamentum suum confirmavit super caput ejus.

About Ecce sacerdos magnus
This motet sets a Latin text from the Bible, celebrating a great high priest who pleased God and was blessed abundantly. The music unfolds through the opening verses which describe his righteousness and the blessings bestowed upon him. The text then transitions to the familiar Gloria Patri, affirming the eternal nature of the Trinity. Vinzenz Goller has crafted this setting for TTBB male voices, offering a robust and resonant choral sound well-suited to the sacred, celebratory nature of the words. It is a dignified and powerful piece for a male choir, appropriate for liturgical occasions or concert settings.
