Dixit Dominus a 4 by Amadio Freddi — Lyrics
Psalmus David. Dixit Dominus Domino meo: sede a dextris meis, donec ponam inimicos tuos
scabellum pedum tuorum.
Virgam virtutis tuae emittet Dominus ex Sion: dominare in medio
inimicorum tuorum.
Tecum principium in die virtutis tuae in splendoribus sanctorum:
ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te.

About Dixit Dominus a 4
This setting of Psalm 109, Dixit Dominus, for SATB voices, opens with the powerful declaration that God has established the singer's lord at his right hand. The text, a Messianic psalm, speaks of God's divine might and the ultimate triumph over his enemies. Amadio Freddi's vibrant Latin setting captures the dramatic scope of the psalm, from its pronouncements of dominion to the solemn affirmation of an eternal priesthood. The music reflects the rich Baroque tradition, offering a compelling and substantial addition to any sacred choral repertoire.
