Dixit Dominus

As a setting of Psalm 109, Dixit Dominus is a cornerstone of Vespers services. Tomaso Cecchino’s powerful SATTB setting in Latin offers a compelling musical interpretation of this significant biblical text. The music is richly contrapuntal, reflecting the majestic and triumphal nature of the psalm’s verses. Cecchino masterfully crafts the interplay between the voices, creating moments of both awe and dramatic intensity. This work is well-suited for performance in a sacred context, where its grandeur and devotional quality can be fully appreciated. The scoring for five voices allows for a full and resonant sound, ideal for liturgical settings or concert programmes seeking substantial sacred repertoire.
