About LABANU N'UDO

"Labanụ N'udo" is a joyful Igbo recessional hymn that captures the true spirit of the dismissal at the end of Mass. Echoing the priest's final blessing as the congregation is sent forth, the refrain announces that the sacrifice of the Mass has ended ("Aja Misa gwụsịgo") and calls on the faithful to depart in peace, giving thanks to God.

Beyond simply marking the end of the liturgy, the verses serve as a direct call to action. The song reminds the choir and the congregation that having been nourished by the Eucharist, they have a mission. The lyrics urge the people to go out and preach the Good News, visit the sick and imprisoned, and show the world the love of Christ. It is a lively, uplifting piece that leaves the church with a sense of purpose as they step out of the doors to live what they have celebrated.
