Dies sanctificatus by Josef von Eybler — Lyrics
About Dies sanctificatus
This motet, Dies sanctificatus, is ideal for Christmas services, celebrating the light of Christ's birth. The Latin text, drawn from Gregorian chant and scripture, proclaims the coming of a holy day and the descent of great light upon the earth. It calls for congregants to come and adore the Lord, rejoicing in this day made by Him. Josef von Eybler's setting for SATB choir captures the solemnity and exultation of the Nativity. The music moves with a sense of occasion, from the reverent opening to the joyful Alleluia and the jubilant closing sections.
