About Deus in adiutorium
The Latin text of this motet, Deus in adiutorium, is a prayer for divine assistance, invoking God's help and beseeching Him to hasten to our aid. It culminates in the Gloria Patri, a profound statement of Trinitarian faith. The composer Girolamo Ferrari da Mondondone sets this powerful prayer for SATB choir, creating a moving sacred work. The text's pleas for help and affirmation of faith are expressed through the rich sonorities of the four-part harmony, typical of sacred motet writing.
