About Decantabat populus Israel
The text expresses the joy and praise of the Israelite people as they sing, "Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, and worthy to be praised and glorified for ever." The multitude of Jacob sings Alleluia, accompanied by David himself striking the harp in the house of the Lord. Alessandro Grandi's motet captures this jubilant scene for a solo voice (T). It is a sacred work, drawing its text from the Old Testament, and would make a powerful and expressive addition to a service or concert programme.
