Cum complerentur

The composer Orazio Tarditi paints a vivid sonic picture of the coming of the Holy Spirit on the disciples at Pentecost. The Latin text describes the sudden sound from heaven, like a strong wind, and the cloven tongues of fire that settled upon them. This sacred motet is written for solo soprano and bass voices, capturing the dramatic unfolding of this pivotal biblical event with distinct vocal lines. The alleluias ring out, celebrating the divine presence and the power bestowed upon the early church.
