Conosco fica by Axel Bergstedt — Lyrics
1. Conosco fica, ó Deus, a noite vem,
as trevas crescem, Eis Senhor, convém
que nos socorra a tua proteção!
Oh! Vem fazer conosco habitação.
2. Depressa vem o nosso fim mortal,
desaparece o gozo terreal.
Mudança vem em tudo e corrupção.
Conosco faze eterna habitação.
3. Vem revelarte a nós, Jesus, Senhor,
divino Mestre, Rei e bom Pastor.

About Conosco fica
This sacred song by Axel Bergstedt is set for SATB choir. Sung in Portuguese, the text invokes God for protection as night falls and earthly joys fade. It pleads for a divine dwelling, a spiritual home that transcends mortal life and the corruption of the world. The lyrics describe Jesus as a divine master, king, and shepherd, an ever-present guide through darkness and light, dispelling fear. The final stanza looks forward to the resurrection of saints and an eternal, undisturbed dwelling with God, overcoming the power of death. The music likely reflects these themes of supplication, seeking refuge, and ultimate hope.
