About Cibavit eos
This setting of the Latin text Cibavit eos is suitable as an entrance song, perhaps for a Mass. Gregor Aichinger’s SATB setting brings out the joyous exultation of the antiphon, which praises God with a wealth of imagery: 'He fed them with the finest wheat, alleluia. And with honey from the rock he satisfied them, alleluia.' The music would serve well to open a service, drawing the congregation into the celebration. The composer's skill in setting sacred texts is evident in this effective motet for mixed voice choir.
