Cibavit Eos

This is a setting of the antiphon Cibavit eos, traditionally sung during the Mass for the Feast of Corpus Christi. The Latin text speaks of God nourishing his people with the finest wheat and honey from the rock. The composer, anonymous, sets this text for a rich four-part choir of ATTB voices. The homophonic writing allows the resonant sonorities of the male voices to come to the fore, particularly in the repeated alleluia refrains. The piece concludes with a traditional Gloria Patri, offering a complete and devotional sacred work suitable for liturgical occasions.
