About Christe Redemptor omnium, conserva
Diego Ortiz was a Spanish composer and music theorist of the late Renaissance. This setting of the hymn Christe Redemptor omnium, conserva, attributed to Hrabanus Maurus, is a sacred office hymn. Written for SAATB voices in Latin, it is a prayer for protection and salvation. The text implores Christ for the preservation of his servants, calling upon the intercessions of the Virgin Mary, heavenly hosts, prophets, apostles, martyrs, confessors, virgins, and monks. It asks for the removal of the faithless from the lands of believers, so that all may be ruled as one flock by the Father. The hymn concludes with praise to the Trinity.
