Christ our Passover by Edward Vine Hall — Lyrics

Traditional words (KJV) Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast: not with the old leaven nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness: but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more: death hath no more dominion over him. For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin: but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Christ is risen from the dead: and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death: by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die: even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was,in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, Amen. Modern words Alleluia. Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us; therefore let us keep the feast, Not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil,

About Christ our Passover

Edward Vine Hall's Christ our Passover is a setting for SATB choir of traditional English words derived from 1 Corinthians 5. The music opens with a sense of bold declaration, the voices entering with conviction. The text speaks of Christ's sacrifice and resurrection, urging believers to live a new life free from sin, symbolized by the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Hall's composition reflects the theological weight of the message, building from the opening proclamation to the triumphant affirmation of Christ's victory over death. This sacred anthem is suitable as an entrance song, calling the congregation to remember and embody the Easter message.
