About Cantabo Domino
This sacred motet by Orazio Vecchi, Cantabo Domino, offers a powerful setting of Latin scripture. The text, drawn from the Psalms, expresses a profound commitment to praising God throughout one's life, finding joy and delight in the Lord. It calls for the downfall of sinners and concludes with a heartfelt blessing from the soul to the Lord. Composed for SATB choir, this work would be particularly fitting for services during seasons of reflection or thanksgiving, such as Trinity season or ordinary time. Its rich harmonic language and devotional text provide an opportunity for choirs to explore a significant work from the sacred repertoire.
