The music opens with a clear, bold statement of the text, soon unfolding into imitative polyphony that celebrates the coming of the Lord. Francisco Guerrero’s motet sets a passage from the prophecies of Isaiah, calling for a trumpet to be sounded in Zion as the day of the Lord approaches. The SATB choir sings in Latin, their voices weaving together to express the text’s message of hope and redemption. The motet moves through contrasting sections, from the powerful summons to the gentle assurance that the Lord will come to save us. It culminates in the plea Veni, Domine, et noli tardare, before a final, exultant Alleluia.
