Ave regina caelorum - O decus innocentiae by Anonymous — Lyrics
O decus innocentie,
flos virginitatis,
mater regis glorie,
templum trinitatis,
regina clementie regnans cum beatis,
purga lux letitie,

About Ave regina caelorum - O decus innocentiae
This setting of the popular Marian antiphon Ave regina caelorum offers a devotional reflection on the Virgin Mary’s role as Queen of Heaven. The text, a prayer for intercession, addresses her as the beauty of innocence, the flower of virginity, and the refuge of sinners. The composer responds with a flowing, homorhythmic texture for SATB choir, creating a rich and resonant sound. The four voices move together for much of the piece, emphasizing the devotional message and the stately procession of the text. Its clear structure and direct expression make it an accessible yet moving addition to services or concerts.
