About Aurea luce
This setting of the Latin text Aurea luce is for SATTB choir. The text is a hymn suitable for the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It praises Peter and Paul as lights of the world, gatekeepers of heaven, and doctors of the Church, whose martyrdom adorned the heavens. The hymn celebrates Rome for the precious blood shed by these princes and asks Peter to release the bonds of sin. The composer Jacobus Vaet creates a rich sound for this sacred occasion. The polyphony would suit a liturgical setting or a concert programme where the glories of the saints are explored.
