About Allor che il giogo barbaro
Marianna Martines's sacred cantata Allor che il giogo barbaro is a dramatic setting of Italian text commemorating the Israelites' liberation from Egypt. The music would be fitting for a special occasion, perhaps a commemoration or a service of thanksgiving. The text describes the miraculous parting of the Red Sea and the Jordan River, and the joyous reaction of the mountains and hills.
