About Agnus Dei
Stefano Vicelli’s Agnus Dei unfolds with a gentle devotional intensity. The SATB voices move in a rich, homophonic texture for much of the setting, creating a warm embrace for the sacred Latin text. The composer prioritises clarity and sonority, drawing the listener into contemplation of the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The plea for mercy, miserere nobis, is set with heartfelt sincerity, before the final, hopeful Dona nobis pacem is delivered with a sense of yearning peace. This setting is ideal for services or concerts seeking a moment of profound spiritual reflection.
