About A Virgem Maria é nossa protetora
This traditional Portuguese sacred song is set for unison voices. The melody carries a simple yet direct message of Marian devotion, offering comfort and reassurance through the intercession of the Virgin Mary. The lyrics portray her as a protector and a powerful intercessor against worldly temptations and evil forces, a 'great Lady' who shields innocence with clemency. The text specifically recalls her presence at the foot of the cross, delivering her Son as a sacrifice for faith, and promises a path to heaven, singing glory to Christ the Redeemer. Its straightforward musical setting makes it accessible and suitable for congregational singing or as a devotional piece.
