When the lector reads the intercessions during the Prayer of the Faithful, the choir and congregation need a response that truly carries the weight of their petitions. "Zaa Anyị" provides exactly that—a set of four short, earnest Igbo choruses designed to anchor the universal prayer at Mass. Each setting offers a different melodic character, but they all share the same core plea: asking God the Creator to hear our voices and answer our prayers.

The lyrics of these responses are deeply moving in their simplicity. From the gentle surrender of "K'osịrị masị Gị" (As it pleases You) to the vivid imagery in the third setting, which describes the troubles of the world tossing us about like water until God commands them to be still ("dere juu"). Singing these short refrains allows the whole church to unite their personal intentions into one shared cry for divine help.

For a choir director, having multiple options for the intercessory response is incredibly useful.
