WE PLOUGH THE FIELDS by Engr. Okeke J.C — Lyrics
About WE PLOUGH THE FIELDS
"We Plough the Fields" is a beloved harvest hymn that turns our attention to God as the ultimate provider. While human hands do the work of planting and scattering the seed, the song reminds us that the growth—the snow, the warmth, the breezes, and the rain—comes entirely from God's almighty hand. It is a sincere expression of dependence and gratitude, perfect for thanksgiving celebrations and harvest festivals in the parish.
During the Mass, choirs often sing this piece during the Offertory. As the congregation brings forward the bread, wine, and other fruits of their labor, the lyrics perfectly capture the spirit of the moment: "Accept the gifts we offer for all Thy love imparts." The soaring chorus, declaring that "all good gifts around us are sent from Heav'n above," invites everyone in the pews to lift their voices in joyful thanks for their daily bread and the gift of life itself.
