About WE COME TO YOUR FEAST

"We Come To Your Feast" is a deeply moving hymn that captures the essence of the Offertory and the Eucharistic banquet. As the choir leads the congregation in singing, the lyrics draw a beautiful parallel between the everyday elements of human life and the sacred gifts brought to the altar. We are not just bringing bread and wine; we are bringing the "weaving of our stories," our hopes, our fears, and the fruits of our labor.

What makes this particular arrangement special for Nigerian choirs is how it embraces local expressions of hospitality and thanksgiving. Alongside the traditional loaf of bread and cup of wine, the verses make room for the "calabash of wine" tapped from palm trees and the presentation of kola nuts. These additions ground the universal message of the Mass in familiar cultural practices, reminding the faithful that God welcomes the genuine fruits of their own specific land and hands.

The chorus serves as a powerful unifying call, inviting absolutely everyone—"the young and the old, the frightened, the bold, the greatest and the least"—to the Lord's table. It is an ideal piece for the Offertory procession or during Communion, as it gives voice to a community gathering together, offering their lives, and preparing to receive Christ.
