LORD HAVE MERCY IN MUMUYE (DAA KPANTI LAA)

"Daa Kpanti Laa" is a reverent setting of the Kyrie eleison in the Mumuye language, composed by Ishaya D. Abbas. The Kyrie is the foundational penitential plea at the beginning of the Catholic Mass, and singing it in an indigenous language brings the prayer's deep sense of humility and mercy directly to the hearts of the local congregation.

Marked Andante, the music moves at a steady, reflective pace. It opens with the full choir delivering the first invocation. The texture then thins out beautifully for the "Christ, have mercy" section, which is set as a delicate duet for the Sopranos and Altos. Finally, the full choir returns to close the prayer with a rich, harmonised plea for God's mercy.
