APPROVED LITURGICAL MUSIC FOR SUNDAY MASSES AND SOLEMNITIES –APRIL 2024

This document serves as a vital guide for choir directors and singers across the Warri Diocese, outlining the approved liturgical music for the Sunday Masses and Solemnities of April 2024. Prepared by the Diocesan Technical Committee of the Catholic Choirs Association, it carefully maps out the musical journey for the Easter season, from Divine Mercy Sunday through the Feast of the Good Shepherd and Christ the True Vine.

Rather than a single piece of sheet music, this is a working blueprint for the choir loft. It pairs specific liturgical moments—like the Entrance, Offertory, and Communion—with appropriate hymns from the Catholic Hymn Book (CHB) and the proper antiphons from the Roman Missal. For a choir master planning rehearsals, this list takes the guesswork out of selecting music that truly fits the theology of the Easter season, ensuring that congregations sing texts that align with the Church's universal prayer.

We see familiar and beloved Easter themes reflected in the suggested repertoire, with selections like "Ye sons and daughters of the Lord," "Keep in mind," and "The Lord is my Shepherd." It is a practical, pastoral resource designed to help parishes lift their voices in unified, joyful worship throughout the weeks following the Resurrection.
