SILENT NIGHT, HOLY NIGHT!

"Silent Night, Holy Night!" is perhaps the most universally recognized carol of the Christmas season. In our parishes, the moment the choir hums those opening notes, a profound stillness settles over the congregation. It carries the gentle, hushed awe of the Nativity, drawing every heart to the manger and the "Holy Infant so tender and mild."

We often sing this beloved piece during the Midnight Mass, right after the Gloria or as a meditation after Communion. The simple, rocking melody perfectly captures the image of a sleeping child and the quiet wonder of the shepherds. When the voices blend on "Sleep in heavenly peace," it feels as though the entire church is holding its breath, sharing in the quiet joy of Christ's birth.
