Sarkin Sarakuna by Edwin N. Gambo / Tom Bot — Lyrics
About Sarkin Sarakuna
"Sarkin Sarakuna" is a vibrant Hausa choral piece that translates to "King of Kings." Written with a driving, rhythmic energy, the song is a joyful proclamation of Christ's supreme kingship. Choirs often bring this piece out when they need a powerful anthem of praise, as the overlapping vocal parts build an atmosphere of absolute celebration and reverence.
The lyrics declare Jesus as the ultimate ruler, the Lord God of truth ("Ubangiji Allah Kwarai da gaskiya"), and the rock of salvation ("Dutsen Ceto"). As the tempo shifts into a lively Allegro section, the voices cascade over one another, repeating "Kwarai da gaskiya" (truly and truthfully) to affirm His mercy, grace, and love. Originally marked as a motet entry for a university choral festival, it is a favorite for grand thanksgiving moments and concerts where the choir can fully express the majesty and glory of the King.
