Collect Our Prayers

This collection of short, earnest responses is designed for the Prayer of the Faithful, offering choirs three distinct ways to lead the congregation in intercession. During the universal prayer at Mass, these brief refrains serve as the people's unified voice, lifting their needs and petitions to the altar.

The first setting, "Collect Our Prayers," brings a warm, localized flavor to the liturgy by using Nigerian Pidgin. With its rhythmic plea to the "Baba wey dey for Heaven" to shower blessings "welu welu," it grounds the prayer in everyday, approachable language. The subsequent settings, "Our Supplication" and "Lord, Answer," provide more traditional English petitions, asking God the Father to listen and receive the prayers of His people.

Having multiple options on a single sheet gives a choir director flexibility from week to week. Whether opting for the vibrant Pidgin response or the solemn English pleas, these short pieces help keep the congregation engaged and prayerful during the intercessions.
