Osama (God is Good)

"Osama" (God is Good) is a vibrant Edo thanksgiving anthem composed by David Irobonosen. Originally written for the St. Cecilia Student's Choir at the University of Ibadan, this piece is a joyful explosion of gratitude. The lyrics call on the congregation to come and witness the goodness of God ("E fen lare o wa do gh'ese n'Osa ru mwen"), offering deep thanks to the Creator ("Osalobua") for His endless blessings and deliverance.

Musically, the score is arranged as a formal choral motet with dynamic interplay between male and female cantors and the full choir. It builds from a gentle, rhythmic opening into a high-energy declaration of praise, punctuated by the repeated, driving chants of "Osama!" that propel the rhythm forward.
