About OJOCHENEMI / OJOCHEGBE

This score presents a beautiful pairing of two distinct pieces for worship. The first, "Ojochenemi / Ojochegbe," is a vibrant thanksgiving arrangement by Jude Nnam. It blends an uplifting Igala refrain—declaring that if God is for us, no one can be against us—with the comforting, classic English hymn verses of "I Trust in God Wherever I May Be." Choirs often sing this during thanksgiving or recessional moments, as the soaring melody and reassuring lyrics remind the congregation of God's omnipotent care, whether "on the rolling sea" or "in the lion's den."

The second piece, "Suhọre Di Bọ" by Rev. Fr. Enem Uneren, is an Efik incensation and offertory hymn. The words invite the Lord of love to come down and accept the gifts of the people—their hearts of thanksgiving, their offerings, the bread and wine ("uyo ye min"), and their very selves. It is a deeply reverent song, perfect for the preparation of the gifts, drawing the faithful into a spirit of total self-offering at the altar.
