Sanctus

When the Preface concludes and the congregation kneels for the Eucharistic Prayer, the choir leads the faithful into the Sanctus. Obioha Ogbonna’s setting of this ancient Latin text captures the majesty of the heavenly liturgy. The piece opens with a beautiful staggered entrance—the lower voices intone the first "Sanctus" before the altos and sopranos join in, building a layered, echoing effect that feels like the gathering of angels around the altar.

As the piece moves into the "Pleni sunt caeli" and "Benedictus" verses, the choir unites in a more rhythmic, homophonic texture.
