MY STRENGTH by DIALA PASCHAL C — Lyrics
About MY STRENGTH
"My Strength" is a deeply personal Communion hymn that captures the quiet intimacy of approaching the altar. Written by Diala Paschal C., the piece opens with a gentle declaration of total reliance on God, acknowledging Him as strength, hope, and joy. For a choir, the melody offers a reflective, prayerful mood that perfectly suits the moments when the congregation is moving forward to receive the Eucharist.
The verses draw heavily on familiar scriptural imagery, from the deer yearning for running water to the centurion’s humble plea, "I am not worthy... but say a word." As the singers ask for the Lord's body and blood, the music carries a sense of profound reverence and spiritual hunger. It helps quiet the church, inviting everyone into a space of personal reflection and gratitude during the Communion rite.
Included on the same sheet is a vibrant Igbo thanksgiving chorus, "Chukwu Dalu" (God, Thank You). Where the first piece is contemplative, this second section bursts with joyful gratitude, calling on the Christian brethren to join in praising God for His goodness. Together, these pieces offer a choir a natural progression from the solemnity of the Eucharistic banquet to the bright, communal joy of thanksgiving that follows.
