MAMA MARIA

"Mama Maria" is a gentle, earnest plea to the Blessed Virgin, capturing the deep devotion often felt in the choir loft. Written by Azuine-Uche Bruno and Irenaeus Ebinedia, this short Igbo piece is a moving expression of Marian intercession. The sopranos carry a flowing melody that asks our "Ezigbo Nne" (Good Mother) to intercede for us before her Son, while the lower voices weave in their own supportive, rhythmic calls of "Mama" and "biko" (please).

It is a wonderful choice for May and October devotions, or as a quiet reflection after Communion on Marian feast days. The harmony is warm and accessible, making it easy for the choir to sink into the prayerful mood of the words. When the voices blend on the final phrase, "n'aka Nwa Gị" (from your Son), it leaves the congregation with a profound sense of Mary's comforting presence.
